Actually, I was at the star-observatory last week (I could not take photo's, because of my arm). I learned that they use a kind of HDR photography. Multiple photo's are taken from the sky. A computer program eliminates noise.
Also a webcam is used in combination with a telescope. By using multiple recordings, it is possible to make unbelievable sharp images!
Did you by the way knew, the telescope was an invention of my home town (Hans Lipperhey)?
